Bob Paisley Memorial Appeal
Hello,
My name is Ian Graves and I’m writing to inform you of the Bob Paisley Memorial Appeal.
It's an idea that myself and a group of reds who use the website www.onthekop.com came up with after we visited Glenbuck for the Bill Shankly Memorial and we are launching on February 29th.
Our aim is to construct a memorial to Bob Paisley in his hometown of Hetton-le-Hole. We feel that if a memorial exists for Bill Shankly in the town of his birth then Bob should be honoured in the same way.
We have contacted the Paisley family in Liverpool with our idea and they fully support it.
We have done a huge amount of work on this project already; dealing with the local Council, Stonemason and Construction Company so it really is just a case of funding now.
As I’ve said, the launch of the campaign is at the end of this month but as word has spread we have been having quite a bit of support with various offers from supporters clubs and websites. We’ve decided, therefore, to contact all the supporters clubs, and website Editors/Moderators to let them know of our impending campaign to give people time if they want to come up with their own fundraising ideas.
If we start getting funds in early enough we can have this memorial installed and unveiled by this summer. Hetton-le-Hole is very well positioned for visits to any of the North East clubs and we know that this memorial will be very popular with supporters.
When the appeal actually starts I will send you the official launch statement.
Thanks very much, we look forward to your reply,
Ian Graves
